Being coupled can be one of the most rewarding but also challenging experiences in life. Growing together; aligning goals; agreeing on finances and how to raise children; as well as facing life's challenges such as loss, changes, or betrayal, can take a lot of compromising and be difficult to navigate.
The most common problem that couples struggle with is communication - or lack thereof. The feeling of not being heard and understood by your partner stirs frustration and eventually leads to resentment. Therapy helps you to explore and heal the deeper root cause for ineffective communication so that you can create the thriving relationship that you both desire.
Communicating as a couple may seem easy, but in truth it’s one of the most common problems couples face in their relationship. Luckily, communicating as a couple is a skill that can be learned.
The first step in getting your needs met is to understand both your and your partner’s home life and personalities. Once couples gain a deeper understanding of the roots of their conflicts, they also understand how to begin addressing them from a loving perspective.
Without seeing yourselves as a couple, even the smallest problems can blow up into major disagreements. Learning how to face challenges as a couple is another key element of building a happy, loving and long-lasting relationship.
As we work on creating healthier relationships, we also work on creating a healthier you. This can happen organically as part of couples work, or it may happen during individual sessions as part of the overall counseling process
With 20 years of experience working with couples, I know that relationship health have ripple effects into a bigger context than just the couple. Being married with children myself, to help couples get past stagnation, repeating arguments, loss of trust, and resentment is very meaningful to me.
In my therapeutic process, I guide couples to a deeper level of understanding and incorporate practical tools to help them reach their goals.
You will never regret investing in your relationship.
